Why bother??

I had one of those days today. I tried REALLY hard to get things done (actually, I tried really hard to get points!), but I didn't feel like it was worth the effort.

I vacuumed... to have animal crackers dumped on the carpet.
I mopped... to have a full cup of juice spilled on the floor.
I cleaned the toilets... to have Addie use them (enough said?)
I cleaned the bath tub... to dump the dirty after-mopping water in it.

But then Barlow was asking about this blog and wondering how it was going. Then he said he's noticed a big difference in the house, the way it looks and feels, since we've started.

So thanks everyone, for keeping me motivated and helping me where I REALLY need it!!

  1. I know exactly how you feel!! I think there is some natural law about mopped floors and sticky drinks. Funny how little things make a difference, even if it isn't prefect. I have a blog post I've been meaning to write about what you just talked about. I call it the chaos theory...

  2. Mopping and apple juice are best friends. Always true, but I know exactly how you feel. Laundry has been my beast this week (thanks to Abe's cough that makes him puke 2-3 times a day in addition to diahrea) and sometimes you just think will this ever end??? Ken actually said the same thing to me on Sunday. He said he really has felt such a difference in our home and that it has really helped him. So thanks from me too!

  3. Not only have I noticed a big difference in our home I have noticed a big one in me. I feel like I can tackle these tasks (big or small) and that has made a big difference in how I feel during the day.

  4. Isn't it amazing. I feel better about my housework too. On Monday I had done all my daily points except for vacuuming. It was 11:00 at night and I was just going to skip it but Bryan said, "wow I am disappointed, I thought you would be more competitive than that, you are going to throw away all those points by not vacuuming tonight?" So I did it, then the next night at 11:00 I thought to myself, well I had better just do these dishes and sweep so that I don't waste the fact that I vacuumed at 11:00 last night, so I did them. same thing last night too, I thought well I did it the last few nights, don't want to throw that all away now. And voila! I have gotten all the points possible this week. I know if I had skipped vacuuming that first night there is no way I would have done a lot of the other stuff. Little things can sometimes make all the differences and Husbands who give support are AWESOME!

  5. Brenda, I am the same way. Now that vacuuming is included, I spend my evenings picking up so I can get it all done. I'm still watching TV, but instead of vegging out, I'm working while I do it. Then I can do the extra stuff in the morning. Andrea was a genius when she suggested doing the extras first and the regular second. After 13 years, I didn't think of that myself?
