Weekly Challenge = Computer Desk and To Be Filled Papers

I figure it is tax return time and I really need to get my taxes filed, but my stack of papers to go through is mounting pretty high and I know I have some important tax documents hiding in there. My to be filed stack sits on my computer so I figured I would throw the computer desk part in for good measure. Not sure how we are doing this but Kim posted weekly challenge and 5 minute challenges last week, so I will post them both this week.

5 Minute Challenges:

TV/Computer Screens
5 Minutes of wall washing
Vacuum under couch cushions
Top of Washer and Dryer
Front Door

I'm back!

Ok, I think I'm ready to give this new system a try. I've managed to keep on top of my daily cleaning, but pretty much nothing past that, and I'm definitely noticing. Here's my plan for this week:

Weekly Challenge: Laundry room
Daily Cleans: I will probably always keep the same dailies- sweep, vacuum, bed, dishes
5 Minutes: Microwave, snack cupboard, vanity table, computer desk, dust inside entertainment center

Wish me luck!

points last week and goals this week: Charlotte

Last week was going great!  Until Friday.  Then things sort of fell apart.  But I am back on track again.

My score last week was:

Dishes 10 (with a Saturday makeup)
Bed10
5 minute Challenges 10
Scriptures 4
Sweep 4
Vacuum 4

Goals 5
Mop 5
Bathrooms 0
Laundry 0

Weekly challenge (I didn't get all 3 done, but I did spend at least 4 hours working on it, probably more like 5): 20
What it looks like now: 20

Total: 92/120

This week my daily challenges will be the regular 5.  5 minutes will be: broom closet, small appliances closet, wash sheets, under couches, & Kitchen sink area.  I think my weekly challenge will be my car.  It is (once again) nasty.

New scoring system

If you noticed, I changed some things up here.  I am still working on the design, but I thought we could respark some excitement by changing the scoring up a bit.

One of the things that most people felt held them back was the lack of adaptation in the choosing of challenges.  So I've tried to add adaptation into the scoring.

Instead of other people choosing the challenges, we've made it so you pick your own weekly challenge, your own 5 minute cleans, and 2 of your 5 daily cleans.  See the lovely tabs on the top of the blog for more information.  Please add any 5 minute challenges or daily cleans you can think of to the list.

The weekly challenge will now be worth 20 points, the daily, weekly, and 5 minutes are the same.  Although we've added a new way to get bonus points.  After completing your original 5 5 minute cleans, you can do up to 5 more for 1 point each.

We are also adding a new feature.  Every week, instead if posting a weekly challenge, we will take turns posting an area of the house for "What it looks like right now."  You have to post a picture of what that area looks like without any clean up (10 points) and then another picture at the end of the week with a follow up post (10 more points).

Tips are no longer going to be assigned.  Instead it can be used for 5 bonus points ONCE during the 4 week cycle.  You can post more tips whenever you think of them.

So at the beginning of the week post:
  • Your goals for the week (still 3 points for posting and 2 points for completing)
  • Your chosen weekly challenge
  • Your 5 minute cleans
  • Your daily cleans
  • A picture for "What it looks like right now"
Then at the end of the week:
  • Follow up for "What it looks like"
  • Score for the week
  • Follow up on goals for the week
Make sense?  If not call me!

Weekly Points Totals, Challenge, and Five Minute

*UPDATED* This is not the first week for July. See my comment in comments section. This will again be practice and preparation.*
This is the first week of our new, real competition for July. I am sponsering an AWESOME prize, so everyone put on your game faces. The last 2 weeks were good practice, but I'll admit I wasn't the best. As a result, I didn't do either weekly challenge and only a few five minute challenges. So, for this week you can choose either of the last 2 challenges (car or closets) and your own mix of the last 2 sets of five minutes which include:
1. Clean the inside of a garbage can
2. Deep clean the kitchen sink
3. Vacuum along baseboards
4. Mop an additional surface besides the kitchen
5. Post weekly menu on recipe blog
6. Wash sheets
7. Organize purse/diaper bag
8. Sanitize door handles / light switches
9. Dust TV / computer screens
10. Clean microwave

If you were on the ball and did all these challenges then you get free points this week! We'll start the rotation of assignments next week, as follows:
Weekly: Brenda
5 minute: Andrea
Tips: Charlotte
GOOD LUCK!
